Rush Limbaugh dropped from NFL team bid: ESPN

As late as this afternoon, Rush Limbaugh was telling listeners that he had no intention of giving up his bid to co-own the St. Louis Rams, despite the over-the-top faux outrage the bid has generated in the liberal and leftwing media:

This is not about the National Football League. It's not about the St. Louis Rams.  That's just a subset. This is the latest in a long line of attempts by the left to discredit any of us who believe what we believe. Sarah Palin, the list is as long as I wanted to make it. And I wanted to make sure that I thank you all for your support, and I wanted to make sure you understood that I know exactly what this is all about, and I want you to also understand, I'm not even thinking of exiting.  I'm not even thinking of caving.  I am not a caver.  None of us are.  We have been betrayed by too many who have caved.  Pioneers take the arrows.  We are pioneers.  It's a sad thing that our country over 200 years old now needs pioneers all over again, but we do.

However, this evening, ESPN cited "three NFL sources" as saying that:

Dave Checketts, chairman of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the point man in the Limbaugh group attempting to buy the Rams, realizes he must remove the controversial conservative radio host from his potential role as a minority member in the group in order to get approval from other NFL owners

If true, this development is a depressing end to a depressing story.

Given the number of criminals who play in the NFL, and the controversial people who own many major league teams, it is laughable watching the NFL suddenly portraying itself as some kind of morally pure enterprise.

As well, Limbaugh has challenged his detractors to source allegedly racist statements he's made -- so far, the most outrageous quotations being attributed to Limbaugh are either completely made up, presented out of context or were satirical and sarcastic.

He's been hinting all week about sending his lawyers after the networks who have irresponsibly broadcast these slanders against him. If these slanders can be proved to have been the reason Rush Limbaugh was dumped from the NFL bid, some people will have a hell of a lawsuit on their hands.

Glad to hear El Rushbo and his attorneys are going after all those who have accused Rush of these bulls**t quotes like "the slavery" one and others. Who the hell are Al(Tawana Brawley)$harpton or Je$$e(I spit in white peoples food)Jack$on to accuse someone else of racism, these two race pimps are two of the biggest racists on the planet.

Rush is spot on in the video. I hope Rush sues the hell out of all involved in this shameless act of anti-white racism. It's time people in the media stop being cowed by the two race hustling racist "Revs" fish face Jackson and hood rat Sharpton. Both of these clowns are guilty of several acts of racism to begin with so if anyone is a racist it's these two clowns.

Rush has zero chance of winning a libel lawsuit - as a public figure, he has to prove intentional malice and "reckless disregard."

  • um, Kathy? 2 years ago

Too bad, really. I was looking forward to an all-white team, if only for the comedy factor.

The fascists public lynchings have begun in earnest. The FIRST one was Joe the Plumber for daring to tell the Emperor he had no clothes. Then came FNC then Limbaugh. Whos next?

Amazing hypocrisy from the NFL. The NFL who have no problem with Ray Lewis or Michael Vick playing in their league, the NFL who have no problem still keeping MURDERER AND CONVICTED FELON OJ Simpson in the HOF. What about racist cRapper Jay-Z being part owner of the New Jersey Nets, no problema senor. SUE-RUSH-SUE!!

Rush is out!!! Yet the Dog killer/mutilator is okay with the NFL?
All based on fake reports of Rush Limbaugh being a bigot of course. By a guy who now runs them whose only accomplishments is as a race whore with plenty of ethical investigations. Al Sharpton

A hypothesis: Seeing himself being eclipsed by Beck, Limbaugh went public with the fact he was in the group trying to buy the Rams, knowing full well that his McNabb comments alone would keep the notoriously reactionary NFL owners from letting him in the door.

And thereby giving him a perfect topic to rant about and get his name back at the top of the news.
