Rush Limbaugh decries Santa Claus controversy as "Stalinism"

Whenever race becomes part of a debate, you know it's only a matter of time before Limbaugh the Hutt weighs in with a remarkable gem of stupidity.

Responding to the controversy following Megyn Kelly's authoritative stance on the ethnicity of a fictional character, Rush Limbaugh apparently set out to make her look good by comparison.

First, Limbaugh charged that "In every portrayal since the beginning of Santa Claus, Santa Claus is white."

Apparently, Limbaugh has never watched Family Matters, On Our Own, Saturday Night Live, or anything else with a cast that was something other than 100% white.

Of course, this is Rush Limbaugh we're talking about, so of course that can't be the end of the stupidity.

"This is worse than political correctness," he continued. "This is Stalinism."

As a reminder, the "controversy" began with a suggestion that, as a fictional character, Santa Claus has no default ethnicity. In fact, "black Santas" never even entered into the original equation. Aisha Harris, the author of the original op-ed that sparked this debate, had suggested Santa be re-imagined as a something without an ethnicity altogether, without ever once suggesting that alternative depictions should be prohibited.

Once again, what Limbaugh decries as tyranny is actually the rights of others to have opinions not identical to his own.
