The designers behind Ostwald Helgason claim little-known artist Sean O’Malley as their inspiration for their tongue-in-cheek Spring 2014 collection. Kooky, fun, and cheerful, the collection’s main attraction is a balloon-animal-dog print. The print appears on skirts, jackets, and shorts, but the balloon animal’s appearance on a t-shirt and sweatshirt is what had everyone talking. Two balloon animals are caught in a…cheeky position…All still cute, of course!
Besides the balloon animals, the other beautiful feature of this Ostwald Helgason collection is an updated take on ombre. Instead of the usual color fade, the designers applied the idea of ombre to the fabric instead of the color. A pair of black pants begins completely matte, and slowly, the pant legs more into a sheer fabric. It’s an interesting technique and adds a lot to the collection.
