Among the thousands of marchers and many more spectators at the 40th Annual Belmar St Patty’s Day Parade held on March 3, 2013 was a large contingent of runners from the Jersey Shore Running Club. The club abandoned their traditional orange colors in favor of the more popular green for the event.
Among the marchers were Phil and Penny Hinck of Monmouth Beach who wore large green hats. Also marching was JSRC President Carly DePolo who approved the one day change in official club colors.
Marchers made their way down Main Street starting in neighboring Lake Como going north to finish in downtown Belmar. Ocean Avenue which had been closed due to the hurricane was also open for at least the day the entire length for the first time for the first time since Hurricane Sandy.
The club celebrated the renewal of the Jersey Shore by marching in the parade and also putting as they say, “their money where their mouth is” by recently donating $20,000 to towns along the Jersey Shore from Seaside to Sea Bright to help with the rebuilding of the Jersey Shore as a result of the devastation from Hurricane Sandy.
The club has many upcoming events planned for the spring and summer. Check out their web page for details.
