Player owned ports is a minigame within RuneScape unlocked by having level 90 in at least one of Runecrafting, Slayer, Herblore, Fishing, Prayer, or Thieving. Upon completion of the bamboo region, RuneScape players unlock the Skull region.
Voyages in the skull take between 50 and 70 minutes each. Four full days of voyages are sufficient to unlock the hook region.
The commodity obtained in the skull is gunpowder. Higher level crew are available, better as beginners than high leveled arc region crew. Ship upgrades using gunpowder are also essential to buy in the short term, to be able to later obtain the goods for further upgrades.
Gunpowder is also used to upgrade the buildings. However, after the two upgrades using 3,500 gunpowder are complete, it becomes a useless commodity, as the only remaining need is the cosmetic upgrade of the portal. By the time this amount is reached, RuneScape players usually are well into the next region and going after slate.
