Judge of dice is unlocked by completing successfully the Crescent Isle voyage. Crescent Isle requires 5,800 morale, combat, and seafaring to unlock. RuneScape players using the right mix of crew and a bureaucrat, and boosts if needed, can pass the voyage. If it fails, another one will spawn shortly.
Judge of dice starts out with a base stat of 450 morale, combat, and seafaring. The combined 1,350 is superior to bowl and pincer crewmen in three stat voyages. Judge of dice also adds 100 morale, combat, seafaring, and speed to the captain, and every unique type of crewman.
Due to the solidarity, judge of dice is useful in almost all types of bowl voyages, and in double or triple stat pincer voyages. It can be used on runs where the crew of the needed stat has been partially depleted as well.
RuneScape players can hire an unlimited number of judges of dice, but will only need to retain three as they gain oxhead and horseface in pincers. If a judge of dice has a bad quality, he should be kept until another is hired, and then prioritize the other one, dismissing the bad trait one for an oxhead.
The three best judges of dice should be retained in the pincers. Therefore, four or five is the maximum needed, and they should not be hired in the late bowl/early pincers.
As judges of dice do not stack, it is better to stack oxhead and horseface on one judge of dice, as they have better base stats.
