In RuneScape, any RuneScape player who is level 90 in one of six skills may open their own player-owned port. Player owned ports are a minigame within RuneScape where players sail ships and ultimately gain rare armor and resources. The six skills are slayer, thieving, herblore, fishing, runecrafting, and prayer.
The Arc is the first region unlocked, and is available immediately on beginning. Missions reward with the currency of chimes and bamboo, used in hiring crew, upgrading the ship and the port, and used later on in conjunction with higher resources for further port upgrades.
Voyages in the arc take 15-30 minutes and 20 voyages are needed to unlock the next region. This can be accomplished in a couple days.
This point is a good time to get the hang of player owned ports. Don't worry too much about hiring the wrong crew at this point, as crew generally gets replaced at each new region. This is due to the newer crew having greater base stats and leveling potential than high leveled beginner crew.
