RuneScape old school poll closes, short term level of service results announced.

The RuneScape old school server poll has closed and the results are in. RuneScape released a statement detailing the level of service. The Feb. 28, 2013 announcement provided the following details.

The total number of votes tallied was 449,351, not enough to clear the 500k threshold but enough to unlock some of its benefits. A small team will be assigned and maintenance will be basic as opposed to weekly. This is in accordance with the 250k vote threshold.

However, due to coming close to the next threshold, Jagex is granting weekly polls and anti-bot technology at the 500k level.

RuneScape players will be allowed to access the servers for free for the next six months. After that, Jagex will assess the sustained level of interest. If old school RuneScape players continue to play and grow as a community, it will remain free. If the numbers dwindle and interest is not sustained, it will regress to becoming a service with an additional charge.
