Does a baby troll grow up? The question is asked in reference to the pet troll RuneScape players receive during the Burthorpe Tutorial.

Baby trolls are known for and obtained for their unique ability to be named by the RuneScape player. This is done by feeding an unnamed troll a random item. The troll then assumes the name of that item.

Baby trolls do not grow up. The pet has no growth stage meter. Baby troll is a low maintenance pet. It does not need to eat, nor does it need attention. A RuneScape player can keep his baby troll out for hours without needing to worry about losing it.

Should the RuneScape player lose his troll, it can be reclaimed in Burthorpe from the NPC by the bank.

RuneScape players should be aware that any item fed to a baby troll is lost forever. Also, should a baby troll already have a name, feeding it another item will not change that. The RuneScape player must first click to talk to the troll and select the option to reset its name, and then confirm the choice to do so.

The attached slideshow is an amusing series of random and funny names a troll can be given. The last name only cost 60k and the name before it 2k, despite their appearances. For a slideshow of random names other RuneScape players were giving their trolls at the time of release, see the Troll Names slideshow, first installment.
