Run your way to a happy Mother's Day

Whether you are a mother or someone honoring one, Mother's Day is a perfect holiday to celebrate by going for a run. In fact, the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club has a special race just for that purpose: The 31st Annual Mother's Day Run. This year, the race has been shortened from a 3.5-miler to a 5K and will be held at the Hamagrael School, McGuffey Lane in Delmar. The race will begin at 10 a.m. and day of race registration will be held from 8:30 to 9:45. The entry fee is $20.

There will also be a Kids' Race following the 5K at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $2 per child and there will be two distances: A quarter mile race and a half mile one.

You can download the Mother's Day Run application HERE.

Here are some additional ideas for making your Mother's Day a special running one:

  • Go for a 5.8 mile run in the morning, and return for breakfast in bed!
  • Run for as many minutes as you have lived in years.
  • Instead of heading out for a solo run, tackle the miles with your family at a pace that works for everyone. Don't worry about your time, just enjoy the time you are spending together.
  • Run to your favorite diner or other breakfast spot and meet your family there for a traditional Mother's Day brunch.

However you celebrate, have a great day!
