Have you ever wanted to work with the legendary running coach Dr. Jack Daniels? How about get some marathon training tips from Olympian Magdalena Lewy-Boulet? The Run SMART Project is offering a dream running vacation July 24-30, 2011 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
"Flagstaff is amazing. A few days in and you realize why the best athletes in the world choose to train here," said Lewy-Boulet, who does regular altitude training in Flagstaff. "Beautiful mountain trails, cool mornings--the runs we go on are all memorable."
The third annual Run SMART Retreat is open to runners of all ability levels and will feature runs on the scenic trails of Northern Arizona, instruction from Dr. Daniels, Lewy-Boulet and other Run SMART coaches.
During the week participants will learn about injury prevention, proper warm-up techniques and running specific yoga. Elite athlete Alicia Shay will also lead a discussion on nutrition, and Run SMART coach Vince Sherry will do a gait analysis and instruct runners on proper shoe fitting.
“Our goal is for people to leave invigorated about what it’s like to fully integrate running in their lives,” said Mike Smith, a Run SMART coach and the retreat coordinator. “Of course we want them to have some of the best runs possible, but more importantly, we want to give them a variety of tools to help them set and achieve their goals.”
The Run SMART Project offers a personalized training experience, including private coaching, online coaching and customized training plans.
