Where can you satisfy your urge to take part in a 5K while getting pummeled with assorted colors of the rainbow? No, it’s not the Hindu festival Holi. The answer of course is “Run or Dye™,” coming to the Nassau Coliseum in April.
It’s not so strange
It seems people like to mix it up when they jog or run. Consider Zooey Deschanel, who led a jogging photography class in the movie, "Yes Man," starring Jim Carey. Now, for those who like to combine athleticism with being doused in color, there is Run or Dye™.
Entrants will follow a course that’s been mapped out ahead of time. The Coliseum in Uniondale will serve as the dye zone.
According to the event’s official website, runordye.com, participants will “get showered in safe, eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye every kilometer.”
Open to all
You don’t have to be a track star in order to enter the race. Applicants are encouraged to “walk, run, dance, or skip their way to the finish line.”
It sounds more like a parade.
What’s more, there is no official attire, which means pretty much anything goes. Keep in mind Run or Dye™ has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island for a family friendly experience.
No pets are allowed.
Registration is required
Contestants must register as an individual or a team prior to participating, so visit runordye.com for more details.
What, where when?
The “Run or Dye™” 5K will be held on Sat., Apr. 12, 2014 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. It might be wise to bring a change of clothes for the ride home.
