Run for the Hills -- a Special Olympics Benefit

Saturday, Aug. 21, is Run for the Hills -- a 1 mile fun run/walk, 5K run and 10K run to benefit Special Olympics. This is a great family event. Families can register as teams and enjoy running together, and there's no age limit for kids.

The races start and end in Shiawassee Park on Shiawassee and Power Roads. Start time for the 10K is 8 a.m., the 1 mile starts at 8: 05 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9 a.m.

There are awards for the top three teams as well as for the top three runners in each age group for the 5K and 10K. The fastest male and female runners for the 5K and 10K each get a new pair of running shoes from New Balance.
