It is that time of year again. The Rumsfeld Foundation has released their Annual Report for 2013 in Washington D.C. A copy of this report can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking here or text format by clicking here.
Since the Rumsfeld Foundation has been established they have continued to give rewards to leadership efforts and public service both at home and abroad. The main focuses of the Foundation remained the same this year in supporting charities benefitting men and women of the U.S. Military and their families, graduate fellowships for students with interest in public service, building links between young leaders from the Greater Central Asia regions to the United States and global microfinance.
A few words from Donald and Joyce Rumsfeld about the 2013 Annual Report of the Foundation; “We continue to expand our programs and grant giving in support of our mission to reward leadership and public service at home and encourage the growth of free political and free economic systems abroad.”
In 2013 the Rumsfeld Foundation donated over $830,000 in grant monies to some of the military charities who support our active duty troops, veterans, wounded soldiers and their families, to include the families of the men and women who have lost loved ones during conflict. Since the Foundation was founded they have donated in excess of $2.4 Million Dollars to this military sector of the organization. In the report itself you can see the many ways the Foundation has helped our military personnel and their families through charitable organizations.
The Graduate Student Fellowships the Foundation is proud to announce since the fall of 2009 there has been a total of 70 fellowships awarded to 53 students. Those fellowships are in the excess of $1.2 Million. This program would not be a success if it were not for the staff involved from over 16 universities and 18 professors from across the United States. In 2013-14’s academic year the Foundation awarded 16 fellowships. These fellowships may total at a maximum $25,000 including up to a $15,000 stipend and $100,000 in tuition support in the academic year.
With Global Microfinance the Foundation has provided in excess of $3 million in grants to over 15 countries. IN 2013 they granted a total of $390,000 supporting the efforts of these countries around the world to include FINCA International, Grameen Foundation, Opportunity International and ACCION International. Some of the countries benefitting from the monies include; Afghanistan, Bolivia, Columbia, India, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Peru and Tajikistan. The monies helped many companies and in one specific area they supported enterprises that are committed to a social mission with tangible economic impact at an individual or family level.
I, as well as, Donald and Joyce Rumsfeld along with the Rumsfeld Foundation encourage you to download a copy of the report and of past years, if you have not done so, to see the great work this organization has done not just in our own country but in other countries around the world.
