Rumors swirl: Is Bethenny Frankel's divorce from Jason Hoppy a publicity stunt?

A new report issued on Friday indicates that more than a few people believe that Bethenny Frankel's divorce from Jason Hoppy is just a publicity stunt.

Frankel and Hoppy announced a split in late December, shortly before Christmas. It was then reported, less than a week ago, that Frankel had filed the paperwork.

An insider said:

It wouldn’t surprise anyone at all if Bethenny and Jason got back together, just like NeNe Lekes did with her husband, Greg, after she filed for divorce. Jason has been spotted still wearing his wedding ring, and there isn’t anything Bethenny wouldn’t do to keep her name in the press.

Bethenny’s talk show is scheduled to appear until this fall, and she doesn’t have any other reality show to do in the meantime. If Jason and Bethenny did get back together, it would generate a ton of positive press, and certainly boost her ratings of the talk show.

However, another insider doubts that Frankel would stage a stunt. There is a big reason for this: Bryn. The Frankel confidante said:

I have a very hard time believing that Bethenny would put her family through this for publicity. She is devoted to daughter Bryn, and her marriage just wasn’t working. Could they get back together? Absolutely. Anything is possible.

Anything is possible, but does that include a fake split? Most would say that no mother or father would be willing to put their child through such a falsehood, unless the child was in on the scam.

However, as the "Balloon Boy hoax" reminded us, kids aren't good at keeping a secret. In particular, young kids (Bryn is two and a half years old).

Frankel is seeking primary custody of Bryn, and she wants Hoppy to pay child support. Meanwhil,e Hoppy is likely to file for joint custody, a source told RadarOnline.
