We were surprised on Saturday when we started to get inundated with questions about the 1.8.2 update being released for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition from not only readers but during youth soccer team pictures of all things. We can confirm that this is a false rumor though and the update has not been released to Xbox LIVE.
4J Studios made the matter clear when they posted the following on their Twitter account. "Please ignore rumours you're hearing about release dates!" the studio wrote. "We've still got work to do. We'll let you know when it goes in to MS Cert Test."
So clearly, the much-anticipated Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is not out yet and probably has at least a week or two before it does. The Microsoft Certification process for updates released to Xbox LIVE for games is notoriously laborious though we are sure they would give priority to an Xbox LIVE Arcade game that has set a new precedent in terms of sales and being the second most played game behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops.
