No, Virginia, apparently Mama June -- from "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" -- is not going to compete in "Dancing with the Stars." The rumor first arose on Tuesday, but was squashed later in the day.
According to the New York Daily News, they were told by an ABC insider that June Shannon -- also known as Mama June on TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" would be a possible contestant for the upcoming season of ABC's reality celebrity dancing competition show.
However, the rumor was squashed after a TLC rep said that the rumor was just that -- a rumor -- and untrue, to boot.
The New York Daily News also said that "Dancing with the Stars" was courting a number of others, including Kourtney Kardashian, boxer Victor Ortiz, and -- ironically, since the word "courting" was used, Emily Maynard of "The Bachelorette." However, nothing about their involvement has been either confirmed or denied by anyone "in the know" as of the time of this writing.
The announcement of the cast of this season of "Dancing with the Stars" won't be publicly made until Feb. 26, when the word is given officially on "Good Morning America." Until then, all is speculation.
One thing that isn't speculation is Mama June's svelte new look. She recently divulged that she has lost 115 pounds. Don't credit dieting, though. She said that she dropped the weight because she is "more active doing things."
