Contrary to internet reports claiming Alex Pettyfer has been officially confirmed as Tobias "Four" Eaton for Summit Entertainment's adaptation of Veronica Roth's Divergent, the official Divergent Facebook Page has now updated to state that no, the rumors are not true.
Hey everyone! Despite what rumors you’re hearing, there has not been an official casting decision for Four, or anyone other than Shailene Woodley.
Technically, yes, Shailene Woodley is the only thesp at this time who is officially attached to star in Divergent, but Kate Winslet is also nearing a deal to star in an unknown role for the film.
At last report, Pettyfer was among three actors who recently screen-tested alongside Woodley for the role, but the studio is still searching for the right match for the iconic literary hunk ... even considering going older with the role to find the right guy.
For now, then, chalk this one up to the web rumor mill until something more concrete comes through on the casting vine.
Divergent is scheduled to hit theaters on March 21, 2014, and filming is expected to begin in Chicago, Illinois this spring. The film will be directed by Neil Burger of Limitless fame.
