On Friday evening, the Fantasy Springs Resort & Casino in Indio hosted the latest Bobby D Presents Boxing Show which featured another big win for super flyweight Víctor “El Pelon” Ruiz of sister city Tijuana who improves his record to (16-3-0, 11 KOs) after registering a 10 round unanimous decision victory over Timur "Here Comes Trouble" Shailezov of Los Angeles, CA by way of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (17-8-1, 4 KOs).

On the undercard


In a female super flyweight contest for the vacant NABF Female Super Flyweight Title, it was 27 year-old Chantel “Gorgeous Babe” Cordova (13-5-1, 3 KOs) from Pueblo, Colorado, coming away with the split decision victory over 37 year-old Patricia “Patty Boom Boom”Alcivar from Queens, New York, whose record now drops to (7-3-0, 3 KOs).

The judges’ scores read 97-93 (twice for Cordova) and one judge had it 96-94 for Alcivar.

Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (14-0-2, 11 KOs) from Dallas, Texas and trained locally by San Diego’s Vince Parra registered his sixth, first round stoppage. Hooker’s victim was Lauro Alcantar (8-4-0, 1 KO) from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico. Alcantar went to the mat three times before the referee finally called a halt to the beat down.

After winning his first six fights against less than stellar competition (boxers with a combined record of 8 wins and 68 losses, Alcantar has now fallen on hard times losing his last three fights, all three being first round TKO/KO losses to competition with a combined record of 37 wins, 1 loss and three draws.

In a featherweight match-up it was 20 year-old, 6’1” Rafael “El Divino” Espinoza (4-0-0, 3 KOs) from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico scoring a fifth round stoppage of 29 year-old Victor Serrano from Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

Then it was super featherweight Roque Ramos (5-0-1, 1 KO) of Vista, CA who is trained locally by Kalina Fernandez gaining an unanimous decision victory over 28 year-old Jesus Sandoval (3-3-3). Scores favoring Ramos read 40-36, and 39-37 twice.

In his pro-debut, light heavyweight Alberto Fundora (173 pounds) from Coachella, CA, secured a second round TKO victory over 37 year-old Albert Avina Jr. (0-3-0), a cruiserweight from Stockton, Ca, who outweighed Fundora by four pounds. The end came at the 1:04 mark of round #2.
