Ruger announces new line of semiautomatic guns

Gun control debate or none, Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. on Monday night announced a new line of firearms for 2013.

In an emailed promotional release, Ruger introduced several rifles and handguns.

Most hold 10 rounds or less, but some types are under fire from U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein and others, who would like to ban guns and ammunition clips holding more than 10 rounds.

The Mini14 Tactical Rifle fires 223 Remington / 5.56 NATO bullets. Depending upon the configuration, the suggested retail price for the rifle is $989 or $1,069. It has a capacity of 20 bullets.

The M-14 is "the choice for applications ranging from the farm and ranch, to the deep woods, to personal defense," the company said. "Their short barrels and overall short length make them favorites in any application where maneuverability and ease of handling are priorities."

The Ruger SR45 fires 45-caliber bullets and has a capacity of 10 or more bullets. It has a barrel link of 4.5 inches and weighs about 30 ounces. Available in alloy steel or stainless steel, its suggested manufacturer’s retail price is $529.

In all, the company’s 2013 line of guns involves more than a dozen rifles, pistols and revolvers in a variety of configurations.
