The Tampa Bay Rugby Examiner takes time this Thursday to preview the five rugby matches being played across the state of Florida this Saturday, Feb. 16. Three of the matches are part of the Division II (D-II) Florida Rugby Union (FRU) crossover matches, and the other two games involve Division III (D-III) clubs from within the FRU.
Saturday’s Division II crossover matches from around Florida
The Miami Tridents (4-5-0) are hosting the Tampa Bay Krewe (7-1-1) this Saturday afternoon in one of the three FRU crossover matches scheduled for the day. The Fort Lauderdale Knights (3-6-0) host the Orlando Griffins (6-2-1) this Saturday afternoon. This match, which starts at 2 p.m., will be played on the Knights home pitch at Mills Pond Park. The address for this venue is 2201 NW 9th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 33301
Division III games to be played this Saturday across the state
The Palm Beach Panthers (4-0) will host the Treasure Coast Pirates (0-5) Saturday afternoon. This match, which begins at 2 p.m., will be played on the Panthers’ home pitch at Dyer Park. This field can be found at 7301 Haverhill Road, West Palm Beach, Fla., 33412.
The Gainesville Hogs (4-1) will host the Brevard Old Red Eyes (4-1) on the Hog’s home pitch at the Gainesville Rugby Club. The venue for this match, which begins at 2 p.m., is located at 1603 SW Williston RD, Gainesville, Fla. 32606.
