Fashion Week wouldn’t be complete with the lounges. There is always a huge buzz on which lounge is best and what is being offered to the media. This time around, Birchbox as well as Bumble and Bumble were being talked about more than any others; Birchbox set-up shop across from Milk Studios, another popular venue for Fashion Week. When members of the press arrived, all sorts of fabulous beauty services were offered.
PUR minerals featured makeup touch-ups, Benefit had a brow-shaping station and Ruffian came up with some of the most edgy manicures ever! Earlier that morning, I managed to actually make the 9:00 a.m. Ruffian show at Lincoln Center and even scored a front-row seat.
Ruffian was probably one of my favorite collections shown during FW. There was a true sense of organization and the show began at about 9:22 a.m. and finished by 9:35 a.m. All of the looks were super-cute, fun classic rock played in the background while numerous models strutted their stuff on the runway; needless to say, Ruffian was quite impressive so it was a real treat to further the experience.
Birchbox is a new monthly subscription service that introduces new products with a variety of about 5-6 samples with each order. Other vendors included: Chobani yogurt and Smashbox cosmetics.
Bumble and Bumble also hosted a lounge complete with vegan snacks and complimentary hair styling.
The following evening, The Blonds show at Milk was the big event. I wasn’t confirmed for this show, but Matt from Mao PR remembered me and graciously offered priority standing.
The Blonds show ended up full and we were able to catch the last look. Lady Bunny and Amanda Lepore received almost as much attention as the Blonds duo-design team!
For lunch the next day it was back to the Smith in Lincoln Center and then brunch the next day at Sotto 13. Sotto 13 serves up one of the tastiest brunches around complete with bottomless cocktails for $25.00 including a choice of an entrée.
The last day of Fashion Week was also quite busy. Loris Diran, Nolcha Fashion Week and Boy Meets Girl all took place about the same time; talk about being triple-booked! Since Loris Diran is a dear friend of ours, we chose to attend his amazing fashion show. Loris Diran’s, Samarkand SS14 Collection at The DiMenna Center for Classic Music was the perfect setting for showcasing these flowly, gorgeous desert-like pieces. Most recently, actress Roselyn Sanchez was spotted on the red carpet with one of Loris’ gorgeous rich blue dresses from this collection promoting the new show, “Devious Maids.” To view the entire collection, please visit: http://www.lorisdiran.com.
The party to top all parties must have been Boy Meets Girl. Usually after attending shows all day, the energy level drops and there is no way to even enjoy the after-party, but since it was the last day of fashion week, we went to both the Boy Meets Girl after-party and Loris Diran’s.
Yes, just another action-packed time during Fashion Week until February 2014.
