When celebrities die, it makes the headlines and is usually big news for the world that has watched them play a sport or perform on stage or act in movies or on television shows. One of the most popular television shows of all time is the "Golden Girls," and now that Rue McClanahan has died, it leaves just one main actress left from the series. As the Washington Post let it be known though on June 9, 2014, no-one seems to realize that Blanche Devereaux (McClanahan) died in 2010.

Yes, on June 3, 2010, Rue McClanahan passed way at the age of 76. She suffered a massive stroke before dying.

The thing is, this article from CBS News in particular has been making the social media rounds on Twitter and Facebook while her name has been trending on Yahoo, Bing, Google, and other sites.

When posted, people are offering up their condolences and saying they will miss her and that they loved her on the "Golden Girls." Everyone is so sad that McClanahan has died, but they just don't seem to want to read the full article and see that the date of "June 3, 2010" is at the very top of it.

Many have to wonder how these sorts of things happen. Well, it's rather easy to understand and see just how it happened.

A number of Facebook pages and Twitter accounts devoted to Rue McClanahan, Blanche, and the "Golden Girls" simply posted memorials to the star. From there, people simply didn't read fully or took "RIP Rue McClanahan" out of context and the frenzy got started.

Now, a full week later, people still are sad that Blanche died, but they just don't realize it didn't happen recently.

Last year, Bob Denver (Gilligan, himself) started trending worldwide and everyone was posting how sad they were that he had died and they couldn't believe it. Well, they failed to realize that the articles they were passing around were from when he died in Sept. of 2005.

Nothing wrong with remembering those that have passed and these types of mistakes allow for that.
