Just another typical Yankess fan.
The recent announcement that America's Mayor won't be running for Governor or Senator is music to this upstater's ears, wallet and electoral sensibility. Until Caesar Cuomo takes his big step, New Yorkers can fantasize that we might not be controlled by giant egos catering to the court apologists that are today's media. No tingling in Chris Matthews leg or sparkle in Elizabeth Benjamin's eye. Nope, maybe we can just get down to the business in hand that remains New York State.
Of course the way the current Governor threatens panic and chaos that could result from our fiscal insolvency, you'd think the anarchists were at his door. In reality it is the special interests and a corrupt culture of fractional reserve bankers who have brought New York to it's knees. Who would want to run a system doomed to failure ? If Rudy took the reins next year he'd have to face the same problems of local interests and petty politicians taking their share back to the district. He would have to stay in Albany sometimes and that big old mansion would be like a Gilded Age prison cage to someone accustomed to the lavish post 9/11 lifestyle.
While the big winner may be Rick Lazio, there's very little enthusiasm for a Wall Street beneficiary from Long Island from the live and let live rural worlds that are desperately seeking and looking for change. The stubborn conservatives who pay lip service to fiscal responsibility, don't see how uncool their repressive social mores make them. No bumbling former presidential candidate who happened to preside over the rubble cleanup in Gotham will do. If Paterson gets tossed aside for the big government, lose billions at HUD Cuomo regime, very little will change. Yes, the best present this Christmas is that the idolatrous press won't have Rudy to adore or smear the entire year.
