You may remember the story I brought you just over two weeks ago about a stray or abandon dog in Port Orchard, Wash. Last night I heard from Markisa Griffin, the woman who is trying to rescue the dog, and found out that as of Jan. 28, 2013 Rudolph is still on the loose and Markisa is still trying desperately to help him. In the evening of Jan. 28, 2013 Markisa said over the internet “Rudolf was chased today by the cops and the animal control...PLEASE someone help me with a female dog....I need to lure him into a backyard (he loves to play with other dogs)...EVERYONE is flaking on me and this boy needs to be captured.…”
Markisa’s love for this dog should be a message for us all and remind us how strong the connection between dogs and humans is. Many people have stepped forward promising Markisa that they would help her with Rudolph but as of today, no one has actually followed through. This is a very sad situation for Rudolf and everyone who is following his story in hopes to get him the help that he needs.
It seems that Rudolph had been someone’s pet and that he was likely one of several pet dogs. He has no fear of other dogs and loves to play, but he is afraid of humans. Of course, with the police and animal control chasing him, his fear seems warranted. What Markisa needs is a person with a good sized, friendly, female dog to lure Rudolf into a backyard of someone she knows in the neighborhood where Rudolf currently is. Once he is contained he can be rescued.
This has been a long battle for Markisa and Rudolph and it warms the heart to know that she hasn’t given up on him. However, he is still out there and he does still need our help. Markisa, and all animal lovers that have been watching her story unfold, fear for this dogs future. She knows that he deserves the chance to be a good, loving pet.
