Nearly any cruise ship today is a great setting for those couples in love, however; Ruby Princess with Princess Cruises has a particular edge when it comes to romance at sea, especially during a Valentines Day cruise. This past February 10th - 15th passengers embarked on a five-night Valentines Day journey to Grand Cayman and Cozumel with a list of celebrities onboard including Bernie Kopell who played The Doc on The Love Boat television series, and Jesse Sapulo a football player with the 49'ers and a four-time Superbowl champion who had a compelling testimony of his struggles with open heart surgery.
On this special cruise the American Heart Association was onboard to educate passengers and crew about what to do in the event that someone is having a heart attack. Princess Cruises also donated some of the cruise revenues from that cruise, to the American Heart Association. The latest information on what to do if someone near you is having a heart attack, is to no longer include mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, rather a specific rhythmic pumping on the chest of the victim can save lives. The tune from "Staying Alive" is used as the model for the rhythmic pumping on the chest of the victim which happens to be just the right rhythm to try and get the heart pumping again until emergency services can arrive. This procedure was taught to passengers and crew members on deck.
On this cruise my wife and I had the great opportunity to go on some exciting shore excursions in Grand Cayman and in Cozumel. In Georgetown Grand Cayman we embarked on the Stingray City excursion which included a trip to Hell, the Turtle Farm and Stingray City. Yes, in Grand Cayman, you can actually visit Hell and even send a postcard to your loved ones from Hell. Following a devastating hurricane a few years ago, the Turtle Farm was relocated more inland, and still is a charming place to visit and you can even hold a baby sea turtle. Stingray City is an outstanding excursion to a sandbar 25 minutes out to sea by boat. The water is waist deep, and the stingrays are like cats that come right up to you for a squid snack that you feed them. You hold a piece of squid in your hand and the stingrays come right up and suck the squid right out of your hand. Visitors can pet the stingrays and have pictures taken while kissing them, it's great fun for the whole family!
In Cozumel, we went on a fascinating and exhilarating excursion aboard an actual America's Cup Racing Yacht. All I can say is WOW, having been to Cozumel hundreds of times, this yacht race excursion was fun!
Cruising aboard the Ruby Princess or any of the Princess Cruises' ships during Valentines Day is a wonderful and romantic way to spend quality time with the love of your life.
