Rubio’s 5th annual World Oceans Day reusable tote bag giveaway coming up

Rubio's has just announced an event that will be of special interest to beachgoers and fans of Rubio's Mexican seafood dishes. Ralph Rubio, the founder of Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill, said “At Rubio’s, we have counted the ocean as a source of inspiration since we first opened 31 years ago.” Rubio continued, “Because of this inspiration, we are passionate about being deeply committed to ocean health and encourage our guests to be a friend to the ocean through events like our annual CoastFest and our reusable tote bag giveaway. We look forward to celebrating World Oceans Day and hope to see our guests in our restaurants this weekend.”

Starting June 6 and running through June 8, World Oceans Day, Rubio’s is inviting fans, friends and ocean enthusiasts to help reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean by coming in to any Rubio's restaurant to receive a complimentary, specially designed reusable tote bag. Starting today, coupons for the free tote can be downloaded on Rubio’s website: http://rubios.com/WorldOceansDay. Bring your coupon in to any location throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada and Utah to receive a tote. There is no purchase necessary. Rubio emphasizes that we can also do our part by avoiding plastic bottles, six pack holders and other plastic items that can get into the ocean.

Rubio's of course has been at the forefront of the sustainable seafood movement. Ralph Rubio is very passionate about this as a driving force in the restaurant. This forms the core philosophy of Rubio's community commitment and their “To the Ocean” love of the sea. Rubio's firmly believes that it is important to use sustainable seafood and keep the oceans healthy and full of fish. As Rubio said, "As we have started getting into more sustainable seafood, such as our tilapia for our fish tacos, we have sought out better ways to use the sustainable resources while giving our guests the best tasting food available”.

This is also a good time to try Rubio's latest dish, the Enchilada Especial. It consists of a pan-seared shrimp enchilada with a green verde sauce, along with a grilled chicken enchilada with a red roasted chipotle sauce. Both enchiladas have a combination of three cheeses inside their corn tortillas, along with onion and cilantro. They are served with a side of black beans and rice. Have a bottle of one of their Mexican beers or a glass of their sangria and not only will you have a delicious meal, but you'll be able to take one of the World Oceans Day tote bags home with you!
