RPG news roundup (2/15)

Welcome to Frigid February! There are some interesting things rolling our way for the remainder of February, so it's time once again for a local Chicago RPG news roundup!

Games Plus is ramping up for their annual spring auction. If you have a lot of RPG/gaming/miniature items laying around the shelves and basement, why not take it to Games Plus, have it sold for you and earn in-store credit? This is a great event and if you're looking for many different types of items, you can't beat this auction. Item drop off begins later this week and ends March 2nd. See the auction website page for details or contact the store.

If you recall, I did an in-store review of Cat & Mouse Games (Bucktown) last year. It was a very pleasant store, but RPGs was not their focus. However, I've received pleasant news from Linda Schmidt, the propieteress: "we'll be running D&D Encounters at Cat & Mouse, as well as hosting events on Worldwide D&D Day in March. Some details are already on our online calendar; more will be forthcoming."  It looks like their D&D Encounter days will be on Wednesdays. See their website for details.

More on D&D - Unique Gifts & Games in Grayslake is running a "one-shot" based in the (in)famous Baldur's Gate on Feb 26th from 7 to 10pm. "Learn how to play Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition in this short adventure set in infamous Baldur's Gate. Pre-generated characters, figures, and dice provided. Rules will be taught."

If you can't get enough 4e gaming, Chicagoland Games has Forgotten Realms every Monday evening. Call the store at 773.728.3656 for details.

The Chicago Nerds Society Club is running a D&D 101 at Chicagoland Games on Sunday, Feb 21st. This is a paid event, you can go here for more details.

Player signups should be open soon (any time now) for the ENWorld Gameday on Feb 27th at Games Plus. With two sessions from 9.30am-2.30pm and 3.30pm-8.30pm, and seven events to choose from per session, you should find lots to do! Yours truly will be running a minis painting session in the morning and a true old-school OD&D adventure in the afternoon. There are lots of other games, such as D&D, Weapons of the Gods, Star Wars and more.
