Royalty on the Runway proves to be a royal bash

Royalty on the Runway was an event that was not to be missed was held July 27, sponsored by a non-profit organization called Higher Family Achievement. It was billed as a masquerade ball and fashion show and judging by the outcome, it was a great success.

Mrs. Georgia USA Mrs. Earth® Pageant Nancy Klausner,CEO of the Higher Family Achievement, and teamed with Klausner Technologies and Enterprise who sponsored the entire event, to throw a one-of-a kind affair that was really needed in Atlanta because the cause was a universal, family-friendly event that was well attended. And just like a family, the support of many enabled the success. With help from Tina Bridges, Elegant Faces & Posh Makeup Academy, Style- Rite Hair Studio, Sonia Shakespeare, My Lunch Box Delivered Catering, and many others contributed to the success of the unit. This was the cause, this was the theme: Families, especially children.

What it is

There are countless organizations in and around Atlanta that exist to help families but Higher Family Achievement is still a youthful organizational of less than 5-years.

The mission of Higher Family Achievement is to provide educational and support services to economically disadvantaged families in order to strengthen their parenting skills, life skills, and communication skills. By supporting the entire family we support our entire community.”

In this brief span of time, they have managed to not only become a viable source but a name in the community because of their vision, “…a world where every student can achieve and every family can succeed.”

However, tonight the audience also was part of the show, and along with host Janet Jackson, this was an event this worthy meant dressing your best. Formal attire was expected but comfort would be elected. Just don’t forget your mask and there were some unique fashion statements going on. Vendors and performers alike wore their masks. Even some models wore masks during their runway time. There’s nothing like audience participation.

The night’s affair

The Royalty on the Runway event was just one of the ways they achieve their goals of highlighting youth achievements, and raise money to give back to the community. I spoke briefly with Nancy about what made this event so different and also to “First Lady of Hip-RockReigndrop Lopes to get her take on the event: :

There were several fashion designers, musical performers and vendors that believed enough in the cause of uplifting children and families. It was truly amazing to see the participation of many children in the fashion segments, The evening was a veritable showcase of eats and treats from hot dishes to wonderful non-alcoholic beverages, to a variety of vendors showcasing fashion, styling, skincare, jewelry, soy candles and photography services.

In the house

In between the fashion segment, the room enjoyed vocal stylings of performers of The Mako Girls, T-Ran Gilbert, Mimi Johnson, Amirah Sharif and Susan, Jayla, Miko, and Jason. The designers that participated included Noral Decarlo, Red Carpet Boutique, Stella Stylz, Claev Designs, Vdinx designs, Violetrose78inc, Destinees Creations, Angelically Kute, and J Cole Designer Collections.

Some of the vendors included Younique by Katrina, Nerium AD, Pink Zebra Candles, Stella & Dot Fashions, Have You Tried That Crazy Wrap Thing, e-pit-o-me Style Boutique, Perfectly Posh Boutique, Cotique Consign and Boutique, Jamillah's Body Sync Signature Scent (feat. scented soy lotion candles), Traci Lynn Jewelry.

For next time

The evening left guests and participants alike satisfied. If you came as a guest, you got your money’s worth. If you were a performer, designer, model or even part of the support, you couldn't help but feel you contributed to a great and wonderful cause.
