Royal wedding in one week

Not since Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage has there been so much attention put on a wedding. Next Friday Prince William and Kate Middleton will be wed in what is expected to be a highly watched televised event.

There has been a lot of speculation about their future. Some wonder if Kate is really prepared for marriage with the Royals. The truth is that no one is ever really prepared. It doesn’t matter if you are marrying into the Royals or into the Jones’; there are surprises to every marriage.

Some believe that Kate has known Prince William enough years that they stand a better chance. Their engagement has been a long one and although that can be helpful, there is still no telling what the future will bring.

The idea of their wedding is really about intrigue. It is all such a romantic notion. But the reality is that with all the pomp and flair, the wedding day will draw to an end and they will be left to face an uncertain future.

Anyone who has been married for any length of time can tell you that when the wedding day is over and life begins, everyone faces unique circumstances that will be challenging and exciting.

That is the reality of marriage. It is filled with ups and downs, good days and bad. I just hope the Royals are truly ready. For now, I tip my glass to them and wish them well on their new journey ahead as husband and wife.
