Royal Rumble more like Royal Grumble

WrestleStuff Inc.

As the 2014 version of the WWE Royal Rumble goes into the books, fans are disenchanted about how the show went leaving many with the proverbial bad taste in their mouth as the show went off the air last night.

Even though The New Age Outlaws defeated The Rhodes Brothers for the WWE Tag Team Championship the rest of the show seemed to do more to irritate the fans than satisfy them.

One of the biggest complaints fans have is how the WWE is treating Daniel Bryan by first having him lose in his match to Bray Wyatt and then not giving him a spot in the Royal Rumble itself.

"I just don't understand it, I really don't," one fan said. "Daniel Bryan is better than most of the roster but yet they treat him like he is another Brooklyn Brawler."

Bryan is, arguably, one of the most popular performers in the WWE but he does not seem to be that popular with the powers that be ranging from Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and the boss himself, Vince McMahon. A former mega-star on the indies especially in ROH, Bryan has been limited during his time in the WWE especially now that his popularity has heightened.

Brock Lesnar completely obliterated the Big Show using a chair to hammer the big man almost to the point of excess. Lesnar is scheduled to square off against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX and there are some who feel Lesnar should end the long undefeated streak of the dead man.

Randy Orton and John Cena was tantamount to a disaster with the crowd turning on both chanting for Daniel Bryan, the Divas, Randy Savage and even TNA star Kurt Angle among other things. Orton and Cena worked hard but you could tell they were distracted by the crowd and Orton won which then saw the Wyatt Family attack Cena post match much to the fans delight.

The main event was the Royal Rumble which was won by Batista much to the chagrin of the live crowd (reports are a fan flipped off Batista and said 'you suck' and Batista flipped them off as well) and much to the chagrin of the viewing audience.

The return of Batista, outside of the initial reaction he received in Dayton (though there were others who received bigger reactions) has been somewhat flat. Knowing he, instead of Bryan, will be in the main event at WrestleMania has left some fans pondering whether or not they will take part in WrestleMania XXX, one of the first PPVs to be offered on the new WWE Network.

"I couldn't stand him before and I sure as hell do not like him now. The 'minds' in the WWE are not thinking putting this moron in WrestleMania," a fan added.
