Royal Oak's Bastone celebrates Irish Fest 2013

It’s starting to look like Spring. The good folks at Royal Oak's Bastone have done it again with their annual Irishfest, featuring limited edition pints of their award winning brew.

A brand new seasonal menu complements a selection of regular and seasonal craft brews through March 24.

Here’s a look at the menu:

Shepherd’s Pie: Celebrate Irishfest with this seasonal dish that features braised ground beef and rutabaga topped with duchess potatoes that are baked until golden. Pure comfort.

Braised Lamb Shanks: Slow cooked imported lamb shanks are braised in ale sauce and served with colcannon—a traditional Irish dish of potatoes and cabbage. Simmering in beer for 3.5 hours infuses the meat with flavor and defuses any gamey taste. The dish is rich and flavorful.

Poached Salmon: Bastone’s poached salmon is served in a creamy parsley sauce with mashed potatoes and minted garden peas.

Corned Beef and Cabbage: This traditional favorite is slow cooked and served with boiled potatoes.

And don’t forget Bastone’s award-winning craft beer, including: Blonde – an American style light beer with soft malt and hop flavors; Main Street Pilsner – a Bohemian style pilsner with moderate hop and malt character; Witface – a Belgian style white ale brewed with orange, lemon and coriander; Royal IPA – an American style India Pale Ale with a strong hop and malt presence; Dubbel Vision – a Belgian style amber ale brewed with candi-sugar and dried dark fruits (my favorite Bastone brew); Nectar des Dieux Triple – a Belgian style strong golden ale with light fruity notes and a hint of sweetness; and two monthly rotating seasonal beers are always available as well. Current seasonal beers on tap include: Belgian Stout – a medium/full bodied stout that provides chocolate and caramel flavors with slight yeast generating fruity notes; and Brune – a medium/full bodied Belgian style brown ale offering caramel, nutty and toffee flavors. Each Irishfest meal pairs nicely with any of Bastone’s craft brews in limited edition Irishfest pint glass for $6. Bring the glass back for $2 refills throughout IrishFest.

Bastone is conveniently located in downtown Royal Oak at 419 S. Main Street. Call 248.544.6250, or visit online.
