The best female riders come together at Mammoth Mountain March 24-27, 2011 for the 7th annual Roxy Chicken Jam. What started out as an all-girl snowboard competition has evolved into an action-packed weekend of fun on and off the slopes. Start dreaming of a Chicken Jam weekend in Mammoth with these three reasons not to miss out:
1. Watch the ladies throw down
Just ask the girls at Roxy; they know the Chicken Jam is the “U.S.’ only all‐female snowboard competition.” That means girls like Olympic Medalists Torah Bright and Kjersti Buaas throwing down in Mammoth’s Unbound Park and 22-foot halfpipe for their chance at $50K. Also catch Erin Comstock, Jamie Anderson, Janna Meyen-Weatherby, Kelly Clark and Ty Walker in the mix.
2. Cheer on your favorite beast
Furry contestants get one run-of-glory in Mammoth’s 22-foot Super Duper Pipe. (Full mascot suits and heads required.) The Mascot Contest has seen the likes of Todd Richards as the chicken, Trevor Jacob as the gorilla, Luke Wynen as the hot dog and Greg Bretz as the Husky.
3. Dance party under the stars
The all-ages concert in The Village features synth-pop sounds by Grammy Award winner La Roux and retro surf-metal riffs and beats by Trouble Andrew. Want more? It’s free.
“We’re so stoked to be returning to Mammoth. This year is going to be the best Chicken Jam we’ve ever had with La Roux performing and some of the best riding you’ll see this season,” said Danielle Beck, Vice President of Marketing, Roxy. “We’re excited to see Torah focus her talents on the slopestyle and to have the world’s best riders competing at such a top level. ”
