The Rowlett Eagles boy basketball team handled their business Tuesday night, at Rowlett High School as they took on the Sachse Mustangs. The Eagles handled the Mustangs 68-44 and improved their record to 19-3 over all and 6-1 in league play.
This one was all the Eagles as the Mustangs were unable to come off their loss to the Lakeview Centennial Patriots with a victory.
Nathan Hawkins, who is committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers program next season, lead the team with 22 points, four rebounds, four block shots, two assists. Hawkins is averaging now 15.5 points a game and seven rebounds a game.
Jeffrey Carroll had a couple of nice dunks and an ally-oops for scores in last night game. Carroll scored 10 points and had four rebounds.
The Mustangs came out with guns a blazin’ as the Eagles handled the pressure. The Mustangs seemed to wear down the middle of the third period of play, as the Eagles maintained a big lead throughout the game.
The lead enabled head coach Stan Blackmon to get a look at many players, as there were substituting players in an out of the game, to get them playing time and opportunity to be on the court.
The other scoring for the Eagles were, Kanard Robinson four points, Michael Kolawole four points, Austin Luke nine points, Derrick Davis 15 points, Channing Holloway teo points, and Garrett Thibodaux two points. Myles Young, Ira McCorvey, Blake Bushnell, and Christopher Heath played but did not score.
Up next for the Rowlett Eagles are the South Garland Colonels who are 6-12 overall and 1-5 in league play. The game is Friday night January 25, 2013 at 7:30pm at South Garland High School. You can catch the game here, live or in archive.
