Roughnecks lose second straight to start the year Saturday

The Calgary Roughnecks have got off to the start in 2013 they were simply not looking for.

According to the National Lacrosse League website, Colorado Mammoth forward Sean Pollock of Wallaceburg, Ontario scored at 6:02 of overtime Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome as the Mammoth defeated the Calgary Roughnecks 13-12.

A major reason for the Roughnecks loss was their inability to stop Colorado's two top players.

Two-time National Lacrosse League most valuable player (2007 with Rochester and 2012 with Colorado) John Grant Jr. led the Mammoth in scoring with six goals and eight points on twenty shots. While Mammoth veteran Gavin Prout, who won the 2006 Champions Cup Most Valuable Player Award, led Colorado in assists with six and had seven points.

With the loss, the Roughnecks now fall to 0-2 after their 13-11 home loss to the Toronto Rock last Saturday.

The Roughnecks will next play in Colorado on January 25, with their next home game being February 9 against the Edmonton Rush.
