After a slow start to the 2013 National Lacrosse League season, the Calgary Roughnecks had a red hot weekend.
Sunday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dane Dobbie of Elora, Ontario had four goals and two assists and Shawn Evans of Peterborough, Ontario had two goals and four assists as the Roughnecks improved to two wins and two losses on the season with a 16-8 win over the Philadelphia Wings.
The Roughnecks got off to a great start in the game. They took a 8-2 lead on Philadelphia by halftime only to see the Wings march back in the third quarter by outscoring the Roughnecks 5-2. But Calgary then scored six of the seven goals scored in the fourth quarter.
The Roughnecks also got weekend help from the Minnesota Swarm, who beat the Washington Stealth 15-14 on Saturday. Calgary trails Washington by half a game in the West Division.
The Roughnecks next have back-to-back games with the Edmonton Rush. They play Saturday, February 2 at Rexall Place in Edmonton and then Saturday, February 9 in Calgary.
