Emerson Quam of Roswell, N.M. has been accused of intentionally torturing a two-month-old puppy on Sunday when he had an argument with his girlfriend reports Thursday's abqjournal.com.
Quam, 27, was arrested the next day and is in jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
During the domestic argument with his girlfriend, Quam allegedly threw the defenseless puppy named Buddy against the wall seriously hurting the dog. Sadly Buddy was humanely euthanized.
Quam faces aggravated animal cruelty charges.
According to The Humane Society of the United States, the link between animal cruelty and domestic violence:
"revealed a startling propensity for offenders charged with crimes against animals to commit other violent offenses toward human victims." Of those arrested for animal crimes, 65% had been arrested for battery against another person."
Please help by reporting all suspicious activities of animal abuse. Stop the cycle of violence and help to prevent other crimes by being aware and reporting such crimes to the police or nearest humane organization.
Give little puppies like Buddy a chance to live their lives. Please don't turn your back on them.
