Rosie O’Donnell returning to ‘The View’: Will the co-hosts dig up old drama?

Rosie O’Donnell will be making a return to “The View.” On Jan. 27, ABC News announced that the 51-year-old comedian will appear as a guest on the ABC daytime talk show that she used to host.

O’Donnell’s headline making reign as moderator on the long running chatfest was cut short in 2007, when she spontaneously quit the show three weeks before her scheduled departure date. O’Donnell accused Hasselbeck of not defending her against media criticism, and the argument was shown via split screen.

Seven years later, “View” head honcho Barbara Walters told ABC News she welcomes O’Donnell back. "I have great affection for Rosie and we have remained in contact through the years," the legendary news journalist said in a statement. "I am happy to welcome her back to the program. She is always a lively and engaging guest and a part of the show's successful history."

But will the reunion be a rosy one?

When former “View” co-host Star Jones returned to the fold for a 2012 guesting stint, things got a little ugly. Walters and the other co-hosts grilled Jones about the “truth” on why Jones left the talk show six years prior, before dredging up dirt about how the “View” crew had to cover for Jones after her gastric bypass surgery.

Jones later told Access Hollywood she wasn’t surprised that the co-hosts turned on her. “Girl, I was on ‘The View’ for nine years. There is nothing that surprises me,” she said.

What do you think? Will Rosie have to defend herself when she returns to “The View?”

Rosie O’Donnell will appear on “The View” on Feb. 7.
