Rosie O'Donnell launching Sirius XM show

Emmy-award winning talk show host Rosie O'Donnell

Watch out, America: it’s Round Two, sans The View, for Rosie O’Donnell, who will be returning to the spotlight this fall.

Sirius XM radio today announced the upcoming launch of “Rosie Radio”, set to air weekdays this fall from 10am to noon ET, which incidentally, places O’Donnell in competition with her former View co-hosts, for at least one hour every day. The radio show – billed as an eclectic mix of humor, pop culture and serious conversation – will air on both Sirius and XM platforms. Ironically, Barbara Walters, Rosie’s former boss at The View, also hosts her own weekly talk show, Here’s Barbara, on Sirius XM; the two women will not be placed in direct competition, as Walters’ show airs on Monday evenings at 6pm.

In a prepared statement, Scott Greenstein, president and chief content officer at Sirius XM said, “Rosie O'Donnell is a powerful, dynamic and entertaining voice and now you can only get her on SIRIUS XM. Rosie's millions of fans will hear her as they never have before, and have the chance to call in and talk to her and her intriguing guests. Rosie Radio will entertain, inform, surprise and delight.”

Speaking on her own behalf, O’Donnell went on to say “this is an exciting new adventure – two hours of talk show entertainment, without having to wear makeup. Perfection. I can't wait to jumpstart each day with millions of SIRIUS XM listeners across the country."

Rosie Radio will have an ensemble format, including celebrities and everyday Americans. One can only predict if it will prove as controversial as O’Donnell’s stint on The View, which ended abruptly in May 2007, as a result of the following segment, in which Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie infamously went one-on-one with each other. Enjoy!
