On Feb. 14, Rosie O'Donnell talked about her 40 pound loss as the keynote speaker at the annual Go Red For Women Luncheon in Detroit. According to CBS Detroit, the comedian, talk show host and actress revealed she underwent weight loss surgery.
This was her first admission about the procedure, called the Vertical Gastric Sleeve (VGS). O'Donnell chose to have the surgery last summer, which happened to be a year after she suffered a heart attack for which she happily survived.
So why did Rosie opt for such drastic action? Because she finally realized it was time to be proactive about her health.
O'Donnell admitted, "I did what many women do... I did not take care of myself."
She added, "And that's why I'm here [in Detroit at the Go Red luncheon]: to try to get women to know you're worth it.
She warned that other females should "take care" and "know [their] symptoms."
And so, as Rosie O'Donnell talks about her 40 pound weight loss, she discloses at the Go Red lunch in Detroit that she has 40 more pounds to go, per instructions for her doctor.
That said, here's looking at an even slimmer, more healthy Rosie in the near future.
