It is good luck to hear the Shofar sound on Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah and the Jewish holiday's are upon us. Family is gathering to welcome in a sweet and healthy New Year. What could be better than gathering around your home, eating, drinking and longing for a delicious meal? What could be better than enjoying your own gathering with a simple, but festive meal prepared in no time at all?
Here is a recap of some holiday favorites and a bonus sangria recipe using a leftover bottle of Passover wine (unopened) that I had in the back of the pantry. Still fresh, this is a terrific and delicious accompaniment to your meal.
La Shana Tova! A happy and healthy New Year to all!

Order a Whole Pastrami or Corned Beef from Bens Delicatessen

I would like to have my readers be able to purchase a whole Pastrami and/or Corned Beef to have them hand slice at home..... can they purchase that from you? Of course. It would be our pleasure to provide such distinctly New York food to our patrons.
How much would it cost? The price would vary. The meat would have to be weighed and priced accordingly. Typically, a whole pastrami weighs approximately 31/2 to 4 lbs. Corned Beefs are much larger and weigh usually around 12 lbs. before cooking. The price per pound is $15.98 per pound raw weight for Pastrami and $9.99 for Corned Beef. We can sell a half of a corned beef rather than the whole beef.
How would they cook it? Pastrami would be best steamed. A double steamer works best. If not, it can be boiled for a short time. Usually steaming would be about an hour or until the meat is very tender. Corned beef must be boiled. This will take about 2 hours or until the meat is tender. Slicing this meat is just as important as cooking it properly. it must be sliced ACROSS the grain of the meat and sliced thinly.
How far in advance would they have to purchase it and how would they store it? One day notice is all that would be needed. It must be refrigerated until cooked.
Can it be frozen? No.
