Ironical That Imam Rauf Speaks Out At The Start Of The Jewish New Year

The world has been waiting so long for the pronouncements from Imam Rauf concerning both the seemingly strategic placement and possible ulterior motives of the Ground Zero, or Cordoba House mosque, being built mere steps away from the World Trade Center site.

He chose as his venue for discussion that bastion of far-left liberal think CNN along with commentator Soledad O'brien.

Build It Here Or Else!

While the Imam was not personally making tacit threats against the west were the location of the proposed mosque to be moved, he made very clear what his thoughts were of the potential backlash such a move could foment.

First the Imam offered some platitudes concerning the choice of location, saying that “If I knew that this would happen, cause this kind of pain, I wouldn’t have done it.”

He then offered his regrets that it would be impossible to move the location at this point in time because of the following:

“The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack… (there’s) the danger of the radicals in the Muslim world to our national security, to the national security of our troops."

“If we do move, it will strengthen the argument of the radicals to recruit, their ability to recruit, and their increasing aggression and violence against our country.”

"If this is not handled correctly, this crisis could become much bigger than the Danish cartoon crisis, which resulted in attacks on Danish embassies in various parts of the Muslim world, …. If we don't handle this crisis correctly it could become something which could really become very, very, very dangerous indeed.”

Therefore, it is the Imam's contention that the west needs to basically back down concerning any issues that have the potential to anger the Muslim world, lest we may become the target of it's wrath.

It appears that we are already the target of it's wrath as indicated by the crater in the ground where once stood the Twin Towers, and that if we continue to capitulate on every controversial issue, where exactly is that going to leave us.

The Imam Rauf, as a purported messenger of peace, should be able to understand and rectify this problem with his brethren, and agree move the mosque away from this site.

Unless he really doesn't want to.

"Unless he really doesn't want to."

OR doesn't have to...which he doesn't. Rauf was speculating on what could potentially occur as the result of moving the project and using that as justification for his intention to continue with it.

Potentially could occur, or what he is very well aware will occur? Perhaps this is all very calculated on the Imam's part to, at the last minute, pull the plug on the project to create just the firestorm he warns against.
