Rosemount Irish beats Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars

The force was with Brandon Forcier as he scored 15 points to lead the Rosemount Irish to a 64-58 win over the host Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars Friday night in boys basketball.

Jefferson got off to a 5-0 run before Matt Nelson put Rosemount on the scoreboard.  Both teams played each other close throughout the first half with the lead changing hands.  The score was tied at 22 before the Irish went on a 5-0 run to take a 27-22 halftime lead.

The Jaguars made a comeback effort in the second half from an 11 point deficit on a couple of three pointers from Ryan Gilmer and TJ LaDuke.  Gilmer was also fouled on a three point attempt and he made all three free throws.  But the Irish held on and hit several free throws late in the game to clinch the win.

Nelson was the only other Rosemount player to score in double figures, scoring 14 points.  Ryan Gilmer led Jefferson with 17 points.  LaDuke and Matt Rosen had 14 apiece.

At halftime, members of the 1987 Class AA state championship team, including former Jefferson head coach Jack Evens were honored.
