Roselle youth are making a difference

Youth in Roselle are donating their time and impacting the community.

Case in point: last month, Boy Scout Troop 408 from Trinity Lutheran Church sponsored a spaghetti supper to raise funds for the new Veteran’s Memorial Park. Hint: honor bricks are available for purchase.

This month, the Scouts are back in the kitchen. A pancake breakfast will help them finance summertime camping adventures.

“We encourage Scouts to raise their own funds,” said Scout leader, Maryann Grygiel. “Pancake breakfasts teach them to work together. In the process, they have a great time.”

Join the Scouts for breakfast from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 S. Rush St., Roselle. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, orange juice, milk, and coffee.

The cost is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors. Children under age four can eat breakfast for free. For details, contact Grygiel.

Next Wed., Apr. 9, Lou Malnati’s pizza at 369 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale will donate 20% of total sales from 4-9 p.m. to the newly-formed Roselle Leo Club. For a coupon, contact Terena Schneider of the sponsoring Roselle Lions Club.

Then on Sat., Apr. 12, the Leos will host a vendor open house from 1-4 p.m. at American Legion Post 1084, 344 E. Maple Ave, Roselle.

“The vendors are donating their sales to support Illinois Camp Lions for children who are sight and hearing impaired,” said Schneider. The vendors include:

• Beijo handbags,
• Cookie Lee Fashion Jewelry,
• The Pampered Chef,
• Scentsy wickless candles,
• Silpada jewelry,
• Tastefully Simple foods.

In addition, there will be raffles, a silent auction, appetizers, and a cash bar. For information, contact:
