The 125th Rose Parade is slated for 8 a.m. on New Year’s Day along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, according to a Dec. 30 KABC-TV Los Angeles report. The Rose Parade’s 2014 theme is “Dreams Come True,” and will feature 48 floral floats, 20 marching band and 16 equestrian units.
Legendary voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers Vin Scully will serve as grand marshall, and toss the coin at the start of the 100th Rose Bowl Game.
According to the Los Angeles Times, chalking is in full effect. One of the reported privileges for Pasadena locals during the Rose Parade is the unofficial code of “chalking,” marking with chalk, or tape in some cases, a designated area on the sidewalk along the parade route to watch and celebrate.
KABC-TV Los Angeles reports that all the grandstand seating is sold out, but free curbside viewing is available on a first come, first serve basis. An estimated 700,000 people will attend.
The program will be available on the parade route for $10, but for the first time in its history, its is available for free digitally. Anyone can download it at the Tournament of Roses website, or the iTunes app store. The download includes bonus video clips of the event.
