After signing a five-year, $95 million extension with the Bulls before the start of the season, Derrick Rose has one less worry on his mind in terms of long-term branding security.
According to CSNChicago’s Aggrey Sam, Derrick Rose and Adidas have agreed to a ‘lifetime’ (14-year), $260 million deal.
"It's great, man," Rose told reporters on Saturday in Orlando. "We've been trying to get it out of the way for a long time. I just remember them bringing it up to me and I couldn't really think about the amount. I'm just blessed and feel grateful right now."
A source close to Rose said that the deal was originally agreed upon in principle in December, but the 23-year-old finally signed the deal on Friday.
The contract is one of the most lucrative shoe endorsement deals in history and it is believed that $185 million is guaranteed with the incentives pushing the into the $200 million range.
In as just as short a time as it took for him to become the youngest MVP in league history at 22-years-old, Rose has become the face of the Adidas brand and throughout conversations with him, he’s always professed how loyal they’ve been to him and how much they’ve helped push his brand.
"Man, it’s a blessing," Rose said. "It’s definitely a blessing. They’ve been with me since the beginning and stuck with me and I’m happy I’m a part of them for the rest of my life. They’ve been doing everything promotional-wise to make sure they put me out there, marketing me great all over the world. That’s all I needed from them."
