The Rose City, Mich., school board is meeting tonight to discuss the fate of one of their own members along with six teachers that have been speaking out in support of a local teacher that molested an eighth grade student. The situation accelerated this weekend as the family of the boy was targeted with a fiery retaliation as reported in today’s Toledo Blade and featured on this morning Glenn Beck program.
According to the Blade and police reports, a fire was set at the victim’s parent’s house early Sunday morning that enveloped their garage and a camper. The side of the house was also burned according to police reports.
The son of John and Lori Janczewski was molested repeatedly when in the eighth grade class of teacher Neal Erickson. The case went nowhere until a picture of the boy and teacher was discovered earlier this year. Erickson pled guilty and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison in July.
However before sentencing the teachers and administrator asked the Judge for leniency. According to The Detroit News on July 10 the staff members did not condone the sexual activity instead focusing on it being an isolated incident. None indicated the possibility of additional instances that may not have been reported or that had not been photographed.
The fire bomb was in apparent response to the family’s request for tonight’s meeting to remove or discipline the staff. The letter ITY and YWP were spray painted on the side of the house. The two are text messaging acronyms for “I told you” and “you will pay”.
