Rose Bowl predictions from 2014 have the experts split on the Stanford vs. Michigan State game. While the 2014 Rose Bowl predictions might differ in which team will win the game, all analysts are predicting that this game is going to come down to the defenses of both schools. A report from CBS Sports on Tuesday (Dec. 31) had neither team scoring a touchdown. It has been updated since then to reflect the picks of that analyst, with the new outcome projected to be a 10-3 win for the Stanford Cardinal.
When it comes to the ESPN experts, the two Big Ten conference writers are split on how this game will turn out. Adam Rittenberg has the Cardinal winning this game 21-17, but Brian Bennett picks the Michigan State Spartans in a 17-16 outcome. Picking against a team from the conference he reports on is a bold move by Rittenberg to say the least. The two Pac-12 writers weighed in with their predictions as well, suggesting that the game will be a bit higher-scoring than the oddsmakers feel. Kevin Gemmell predicts a Cardinal win of 28-21 and Ted Miller also goes with the Cardinal in a 24-20 victory.
The Vegas odds have interesting 2014 Rose Bowl predictions as well. The current line has Stanford as 6 1/2 point favorites in this game and the over/under line is currently at 42.5 points. Las Vegas is basically stating that the Stanford vs. Michigan State game will finish 24.5-18 or in that range. Since one team allows only 12.7 points per game and the other gives up just 18.6 points per game, going with the under might just pay off on New Year's Day.
