In a first-time move, the Tournament of Roses is putting a limited number of tickets to the 101st Rose Bowl Game up for presale on the Ticketmaster website or by calling (800) 653-8000. The game, held Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at 2:10 p.m., will also be one of two College Football Playoff Semifinal under the new championship system. The presenting sponsor for the Granddaddy of Them All is Northwestern Mutual.
Sales started on Aug. 28 at $150 and up per ticket, plus Ticketmaster fees. The total number of tickets available was not given, but each purchaser is limited to four. We recommend calling Ticketmaster to get started, because we were unable to find the specific Ticketmaster page for presales.
The two semifinal games will feature the four top teams in the country, announced in a national broadcast on ESPN on Dec. 7, 2014. The other College Football Playoff Semifinal will be played at the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Winners will participate in the first College Football Playoff National Championship in Arlington, Texas on Jan. 12, 2015.
Even with a seating capacity of more than 87,000, the Rose Bowl Game is a “contractual sellout,” meaning the majority of tickets are reserved for the two participating universities for their fans. Other tickets are reserved for Pasadena City Council members to distribute to their constituents, and a limited number for members of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, celebrities, and Pasadena residents.
