The 2014 NCAA football live stream and televised bowl games schedule brings several big matchups on the first day of the New Year. Among them, is an annual tradition with the Rose Bowl, with two teams that had been among the potential favorites to reach the BCS National Championship competing. It will be Stanford vs. Michigan State in this game to be played in Pasdena, with the latest televised and live stream NCAA bowl game on the schedule arriving courtesy of ESPN’s networks.

According to Mercury News in their Jan. 1 report, today’s game features two top five teams who have played in a bowl game against one another as recently as 1996. In that game, Stanford won with a shutout 38-0, although Michigan State is 3-2 in all-time meetings between the two schools. Stanford will be attempting to win back-to-back Rose Bowl games for only the second time in their school history, while Michigan State will attempt to get the Big Ten its first Rose Bowl victory since 2010.

While No. 5 Stanford lost twice all season, No.4 Michigan State lost just once. These two teams are said to be almost identical in their styles, and looking at their stats may tell that tale well. The Cardinal average 33.2 points a game while the Spartans average 29.8 points a game. They rank at 93rd and 92nd, respectively, in passing yards, while Stanford ranks significantly higher when it comes to rushing. The Cardinal are 23rd in the nation in that category, averaging 210.9 yards per game. They’ll look to break down a Michigan State team on defense which ranks fourth in the nation for the category. As of this report, the Spartans only allowed opponents 12.7 points per game on average.

Stanford will be led by quarterback Kevin Hogan, who compiled 2,487 yards and 20 touchdown passes on the season. Tyler Gaffney will look to get things going on the ground as he has most of the past season. The senior running back racked up 1,618 yards and 20 touchdowns this past season on 306 carries. On the other side, Michigan State will look to quarterback Connor Cook, who helped lead the Spartans to their impressive win over Ohio State for the Big Ten title. Cook racked up 2,423 yards and 20 touchdowns on 201-for-344 completed passes, while running back Jeremy Langford helped with the rushing, achieving 1,338 yards and 17 touchdowns for Sparty this past season. Which of the offensive stars will lead the way in today’s Rose Bowl remains to be seen later on live television.

Odds for today’s game favor the Stanford Cardinal, with the line first opening at -1 1/2 and since rising up as high as 7-points in their favor. The over/under points total for this game is 41 points at various sports books, after first opening at 44 points. Weather is expected to be sunny with a kickoff temperature of 72 degrees.

Wednesday’s 2014 Rose Bowl featuring Stanford vs. Michigan State has a scheduled start time of 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. This game will be presented on live TV via ESPN on cable or satellite in standard and hi-definition formats.
